The Music, the Man, and the Media
I love music journalists. But this week I just saw some really dumb shit.
there’s a few trashy writers who need to learn that some personal shit is off limits… and some lines shouldn’t be crossed. yeah, i’m saying that even tho a big part of the audience wants the media to cross that line.
i’m just saying: you may have a few more clicks this week, but know that there isn’t a single intelligent person who respects what you did. you are fucking human garbage.
so if some journalists need to focus more on the music, there’s a bunch of others who need a restraining order keeping them 50 feet away from ANY rap lyric.
there has been a baffling number of journalists who are shocked at rap records with (…wait for it…) violent themes.
As if they didn’t realize that bravado is in hiphop’s DNA, and that an artist will say ANYTHING to show power.
Maybe y’all got too comfortable with bragging about money and girls. but plenty of artists have made their name by verbally threatening, attacking, and offending people. and that doesn’t even get into wordplay. rappers have entertained us with metaphors about street violence, war, and even terrorism… and you suddenly became concerned THIS week?
To all of you… let an artist be an artist. Understand who we are and why we say what we say. Yeah… there’s room to analyze the lyrics, or even analyze a person’s life. But this week, if you were on some petty and irrelevant bullshit… eat a dick.
