Music Favorites: Week of November 12, 2010
A lot of great music this week. So I picked my top 3 purely on gut. I’m feelin Wiz Khalifa’s weeded raps, Cee Lo’s collab with Salaam Remi, and Digitalism with some of that Euro shit.

The Game shows us how to get people to watch a whole video. J Cole gives us a taste of that that Das EFX “bumstickidybum” flow. And I’ll be honest… not necessary loving this Flying Lotus track, but the video is just bananas.
Had a feeling that “Don’t Stop” would be worth that wait… Kanye is on fire this week with the collabs . But gotta big up my homie Spek Won, who is seriously on his grind.
I’m thrilled to bits cuz this week we keeps it grimy. Video director Chris Cunningham brings us an audio-visual remix of Gil Scott-Heron. Brian Eno previews a track on Warp Records. And Sean Price goes OFF (and introduces me to Maffew Ragazino). If you don’t know any of these four names you can start your education with these tracks.
Kanye posted “Lord, Lord, Lord” on Saturday… illest track from his new effort since “Power”. Plus a banger from Mickey Factz, whos ready to explode. Finally, a demo from MIA and Diplo has got me intrigued (even if nothing ever comes of it).
Is it just me or is everybody suddenly beefin with each other? People are friendly when the party seems like it will never stop. But a recession hits… cash dries up and suddenly your world looks too crowded… folks blaming everybody else… getting all bitter…
So this week deserves a musical release. Classics from tense times…about tense times.
Joell Ortiz goes hard. (Wow.) John Legend and The Roots breathe new life into a classic. And the Kings of Leon hit us with a solid follow-up to their breakthrough from 2 years ago.
